He's only on his green life thanks to Pearl. Or on her green life, maybe. It snuggles inside of him almost crookedly, as if it doesn't fit. It wasn't meant to be his life. It's floppy around him at the shoulders and imaginary hem, like he's walking through the cottage in one of Pearl's midnight-colored hoodies and nothing else except his own slippers.
I'm okay with that, actually.
If there were such a thing as soulmates, maybe it would feel like this.
It's hard to maintain consistent #cozy cottagecore vibes when the local scam artist of a wizard keeps rummaging through your bird feeder. Scott and Pearl cuddle anyway.

Quiet flickers between them. Then Pearl nods, scrunching fingers and toes. “And what’s the plan for when we go Red?”
Scott sighs into her hair. “Well, we don’t really know how the Red curse is going to take us. Neither of us has dropped that low in color before. But I think… we’ll be okay together.”
“You think so?”
In hindsight, Scott should have filed for divorce the instant he shot from Red to the 23rd tint of Very Dark Green. It took the universe 3 seconds to shove him full of souls. On life 11 or 12, he dropped the teapot and passed out on Cleo’s kitchen floor. So the paperwork waited until he woke again.
She’ll be exiled to the Nether when they find her… And Pearl has the audacity to beg he hide her in his walls.

Felix's parents send him on a trip to Camp Amazing, a place for anti-social adults to learn how to function socially run by an eccentric Ringleader, his crazy husband, and his creepy son. He didn't run when he had the chance, so now he has to deal with nosy people, problematic reunions, an inconsistently sane therapist, crazy table-top role-playing adventures, and people who seem determined not to let him push them away.
Surely he won't blow everything up in the process.
Or—A closeted and deeply troubled trans-woman who can't stop exploding in dramatic self-destructive fashion learns to let others in and stop hating herself.
