Scott sighs into her hair. “Well, we don’t really know how the Red curse is going to take us. Neither of us has dropped that low in color before. But I think… we’ll be okay together.”
“You think so?”
In hindsight, Scott should have filed for divorce the instant he shot from Red to the 23rd tint of Very Dark Green. It took the universe 3 seconds to shove him full of souls. On life 11 or 12, he dropped the teapot and passed out on Cleo’s kitchen floor. So the paperwork waited until he woke again.
She’ll be exiled to the Nether when they find her… And Pearl has the audacity to beg he hide her in his walls.

“Hey, Uncle Skizz! I think I found soul juice!”
The voice belongs to Scar, who went around the edge of the building back towards the town and street. Skizz, hiking up his pack, goes to join him. Scar’s standing to one side, holding his pant legs up from his paws again. He looks at Skizz, then at the gravel.
There’s a distinct gap in the wooden wall, singed black, like a creeper exploded right beside it. Skizz’s eyes trail down to Scar’s feet. Spattered purple globs paint the grass, like modern art made from lollipop spirals. Gunpowder glints on nearby sapling leaves.

Martyn half chokes on his bread. Scar's shameless; he chases his gaze wherever it flicks, shifting his weight between his paws, too. Like him, Martyn's on his Yellow life. Scar likes to think his own eyes are wide and innocent, lashes fluttering. His relationship with Etho was poisoned long ago; he has no opinion on Martyn either way.
Bdubs, however, has no such hesitations. "Mom always says she hates you," he says, utterly disinterested, and Martyn's face could be a meme. You know: Cleo, pick me up- I'm scared.
