Summary
James hated missions like this. They were so…simple. Mundane. Normally, 007 would never have to worry about being stuck doing something as low stakes as guarding precious gems while their rightful ownership was tied up in the courts, no matter if a country’s government was one of the parties in said court case. But recovery from serious injury often meant a 00 being sent on missions generally considered beneath them as a sort of fitness evaluation in the field.
Or rather that’s how James liked to think of them.

Summary
This is my first attempt at writing a novelization of a given episode - one of my favorite episodes, I admit. The challenge between staying precisely with what we see on the screen and adding scenes and thoughts that are not in the finished episode was fascinating - and difficult at times. I hope you´ll enjoy what I´ve done with it. Since any MacGyver fan should know the story, I´m adding just a very brief summary... Comments and feedback are very much appreciated!
MacGyver is in Geneva, Switzerland with Pete, trying to negotiate the signing of a peace treaty between two countries, when he gets caught between the lines of fire of an assassination attempt - and gets shot... and framed of being the killer...
