Summary
After months of being cooped up on the journey to Earth, everyone’s nerves were a little frayed despite their eventful arrival. Clive and Jason were bickering in the cloud palace again. And for once, Zara couldn’t squash her comment. It was just so obvious. “Will you two just fuck already?”
“What?” Their unison response was almost as comical as the way they danced around each other. She gave them a pointed look. Jason looked to Belinda who shrugged with a twist of her lips in sad agreement.
Turning back to her, Jason appealed to Zara, “I thought we had a thing?” He gestured back and forth between himself and Zara.
She sighed. “You can have more than one thing, Jason. You of all people know that. You’ve got more things than you can juggle most of the time.”
The utter betrayal running across his face would’ve been comical if he didn’t look like he actually meant it this time.
“Clive’s only love is to the system.”

“You’re sure?”
“Yes!” Clive’s impatience bled through his aura in an almost angry strip tease.
It wasn’t the request he had a problem with, it was the location. This would have been easier in his soul realm. But Clive insisted he wanted to gather data in the real world. Jason sighed as his clothes vanished in a plume of black mist.
Admiring his boyfriend, maybe husband someday, he grinned. Clive gave him an annoyed eyebrow and Jason finally summoned his starlight cloak. The fabric billowed out around him dramatically, then settled on his bare skin.
Clive’s eyes lit up. The scholar stepped up, slipping his long arms underneath the cloak, wrapping them around his waist.

He’d already tried flirty banter, presents, and even taking the man on dates. Clive had either not noticed, or was pretending not to notice to avoid an awkward conversation. Jason had resolved to leave it alone until he could talk to Rufus. The entirety of his experience hitting on men was the one time Erika had dragged him out to a gay bar the night he came out to her. There was a huge difference between propositioning a guy wearing a rainbow mesh shirt in a club people went to specifically to be propositioned, and asking out someone he saw on a daily basis, whose sexual preferences he didn’t even know, who he wanted an actual relationship with. He needed advice on the best way to proceed before he ruined another friendship and made things uncomfortable for everyone.

Jason’s party interface was turning out to be an incredibly useful tool in the bedroom. Knowing there was no chance of being overheard by anyone except the intended audience made it easier to stumble through the first few awkward attempts at dirty talk.
