    Summary

    A collection of all the stories in Traveling Thieves, which is my Dark Fantasy, Hybrid Slavery, super angsty AU that spawned from my Whumptober 2023 prompt fills! Currently in semi-chronological order except for the first fic in the series, which will always be “I see the danger, it’s written there in your eyes” which if anyone does want to read the series in chronological order, I’d like them to start there! ^-^ I also occasionally place some stories in specific locations that I think work best for the reading order that aren't exactly where they'd be timeline-wise!

    WARNING: THIS IS A WHUMP-CENTRIC, ANGST-CENTRIC, HURT/COMFORT (SOMETIMES NO COMFORT) DARK FANTASY AU.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the tags before you dive into any stories of this one, this series is intended to be a place for me to try my hand at writing and exploring some darker themes.

    There will be plenty of happy times in this, too, though! It's not all doom and gloom, I promise! I hope you'll enjoy!

    Getting used to Hermitcraft had already been hard enough. Grian has only been part of the group for a couple months, but he was already infatuated with the chaos. Hell, he embraces it. It's been years (after the loss of his family, his old smp, his humanity), and he's eager to make new friends. Hermitcraft accepts him with open arms, and he fits right in - no surprise to anyone.

    But then things get harder. Not pranks weird, either. (Weird in an inability to sleep, a constant aching in his back, a longing for anyone nearby all times of the day, and seriously, why does Grian keep stealing clothes?!)

    (in situations of high stress, a hybrid may not present their traits if conditions are not safe to do so. Grian, twenty-odd years old, finds home in Hermitcraft. Hell breaks loose - just a little.)

    "But that aside, one of the big things Donatella and I discussed was this: you are going to submit to a psychiatric evaluation and attend regular therapy for your entire time here among the Psychonauts. This not only means you'll be regularly seeing one of the many therapists employed by the agency, but you also will have to undergo occasional psycho-therapy with one of the Senior Agents."

    Raz cocked his head. "Psycho-therapy?"

    "Sometimes it's easy to ask for help. Other times it isn't. A lot of the time, what cannot be expressed without, is expressed within." Forsythe placed her hand over her heart, fingers splayed as she spoke. "Which is just a fancy way of saying that sometimes a mental check-in with a Psycho-Portal goes a long way. Whether it's to make sure your brain is properly defended against intruders or to find underlying issues you don't have the vocabulary or energy to express verbally in standard therapy, having someone inside your brain—someone you trust—can bring to light issues you didn't know you had and, in the same trip, help you learn to resolve those same problems."
