Summary
The war is over, Severus lived, and Hermione's final year at Hogwarts begins... but not all is well for our tragic couple.
Hermione is a mess of anxiety, OCD, and a debilitating lack of sleep. Late at night, her thoughts drift to a familiar figure, and when her subconscious latches onto him as a temporary reprieve from her misery, she does not fight it. How far will she go to have a connection to the man who permeates her mind?
Severus awaits a trial that will determine his fate. The wizarding world and the Ministry are not entirely convinced of his innocence, and the threat of a former victim testifying against him looms day after day. Worse, he’s unable to leave Hogwarts until the trial ends. What will he do when faced with an unconscionable decision? How far removed from his past is he, truly?

Jud stands there, shaky hands hanging loosely at his sides, in his dark sweater and grey sweatpants that Benoit knows are only staying up due to the efforts of some tightly-drawn drawstrings. Hair dripping, cheeks rosy, eyes bloodshot, beautiful.

Someone is leaving Death Eater corpses on Hermione's doorstep. Like a cat offering its catch, convinced of her inadequacy to provide for herself.
