Neville glanced at her then, brief but enough for her stomach to flip. “Want me to quiz you?”
She almost laughed. If he knew what was actually on her mind, he wouldn’t be offering to make her think harder. Or maybe he would. “Maybe in a bit.”
He smiled faintly and went back to his notes.
Heather watched him for another heartbeat. He kept writing, completely at ease, and she realized with a sudden rush of affection and wanting that she could sit here all night, pretending to read, just to keep him close like this. -
