Angry blue eyes glared at Jade from beneath short dark locks that fell into her face. Sharp cheekbones, straight nose, and a strong jaw gave her an imperious air, and despite the fact that she was shorter than Jade – and tied to a tree – she still somehow gave the impression that she was looking down at her. This was even more impressive given the entire left side of her face was one massive bruise, and her eye was swollen almost completely shut.

It was either die of disease or malnutrition in your cell, long forgotten by anyone who'd known your name, or be found by either side of the conflict and be killed. Death had called to you for a while; you didn't fear it. And you didn't fear the three, foreign operators when they broke through the door to your prison cell— or when the one with the skull mask held an assault rifle to your head.

The soldier knew better than to leave you here, so he gently folded your hands on your stomach and drew your knees together. Slipping an arm beneath your legs and another beneath your back, he lifted you up in his arms bridal style, standing up with little effort.
You head dropped against his shoulder, and König just gazed down at your unconscious face. There was something serene about the way you looked, perfectly unaware of the chaos and conspiracies surrounding you. In that moment, he wanted to make it all disappear so that you could wake up in an environment that would bear no hostility towards you.
Yet, he knew such a wish was futile in the face of current facts. He shouldn’t even wish that for you, he should wish for answers – answers that only you could provide them. Still, he couldn’t help the way he felt in the moment. But as sweet as it was, it was a fleeing moment.
“You hang on tight there, little bird,” he murmured softly, fixing your position in his arms once to carry you comfortably.

“ Freezing my tits off ,” responded Soap.
“That makes two of us,” Spider called back.
“ Target is spotted inside. Soap, move left around the building. Spider, go straight. Stay hidden .” Ghost’s voice was barely audible, nothing but a low humming. If Spider hadn’t been so damn tense she might’ve fallen asleep to the sound of it.
“ Always the cheery one, Ghost ,” Soap replied. “ Moving now. ”

A mission goes wrong, sending Soap right into the arms of the enemy. Spider, the freshly reinstated soldier, goes against Ghost’s orders to save her friend. Things take a turn for the worse when Spider is wounded, leaving her to survive unimaginable torture.

In fact, you don't leave at all. Over time, you cemented your place in the Task Force, but no-one knew quite how much they'd come to depend on you until you were gone. You'd built a place for yourself in even the coldest of hearts, but like all birds, you couldn't fly forever.
Wings clipped and bloodied feathers streaming behind you, you were in a freefall. Ghost could only hope you wouldn't pass right through him when he caught you.
