Before he reached his room his eyes caught on a door at the end of the hallway. They were five people, and the corridor was for six. Someone would most likely move in to that room and have to put up with having Kaz and company as their almost–roomates. He couldn’t imagine it would be fun to live in a corridor with five people who were already close friends, but Jesper was sure they’d get along.

I really wanted a story where everyone is angry after the reveal, but Wylan is hurt before they forgive; I couldn't find it so I wrote it.

“If you get out there while you’re drugged there’s no telling what you’ll do,” Wylan said, pushing past Kaz to get back to his work station. “I’d think you'd want to avoid pulling the Dregs into this gang war.” He yanked a cabinet open and rummaged around for a pipette. Opened the vial. Drew out a drop. In his head he ran through the motions of the synthesis: he’d gotten close, before, with the blood sample. All he had to do now was see it through to the finish.
“I know that.” Kaz’s voice was nearly a snarl, but then again it always sounded like that. There was still time. “I mean, why didn’t you lock it from the outside?”
“Like that would stop you," Wylan scoffed. "You need an antidote. You said the others were dead within the hour.”
“Only after killing everyone in their vicinity, Merchling, did you forget that part?”

“It’s nothing. It was part of a treatment this ‘doctor’ my father called had, for my reading…” Wylan makes a small, unspecific gesture with an awkward smile. The silence that hangs is thick.

Wylan went into the meeting with a new family and came out alone. Again. But it’s nothing he couldn’t handle right? He lived his life after his mother died alone so it won’t be hard. As long as Van Eck and the crows can just leave him alone after being the ones to do this.
The crows find out about Wylans father and things are assumed and guilt and shame are felt by all.

It came in the form of a medical diagnosis, confirming what teachers had whispered about him for years. Now, all he had to do was ask the University for the help he needed. Simple enough, right?
Wylan splits his time evenly between his chemistry degree and his work at Ketterdam University's Disablity Support Office. The job doesn't pay much, and sometimes the work is mind-numbingly dull, but he gets to give people the help they need and deserve. The help he'd always wanted growing up.
