“Not lucky,” said Masaki casually. “I think he knows the baby likes it.”
Hiei froze on his way to the kitchen as if someone had pressed his pause button.

Hiei is just starting the second trimester of his third pregnancy, and he hasn't told anyone but Kurama, Shiori, and Yukina. But there's one person he doesn't need to tell...because he already knows.

“Here’s what we’re going to do next,” said Botan, who was standing in the water by Hiei. “You’re standing in the pool, right, Masaki?”
Masaki nodded.
“Right. Now just lift your feet up and give them a few kicks,” she said. “Keiko, would you like to demonstrate?”
“Of course,” said Keiko. She clung to the wall and kicked her feet. “See, Masaki? Like this.”
“Okay,” said Masaki nervously, and he held onto Hiei the way Keiko was hanging onto the wall. His hands were clinging onto Hiei’s hands with a death grip, but with the help of his floaties and the buoyancy of the water, he managed to float level with the surface and kick his legs. When the rest of them cheered and screamed like rabid fans at a rock concert, Masaki grinned and kicked his legs more enthusiastically. Hiei gently swam him out to the three-feet mark, where the water would have been just about level with his head, but he was still kicking his feet happily, safe with his Touchan. Hiei was bursting with pride.
I wanted to write a cute summer family story, so here's Botan teaching the gang's children how to swim. Enjoy!

Maybe they didn't know what symptoms to look for. Maybe there weren't many symptoms at all. Or maybe they just didn't pay attention. But no matter what their circumstances, these are the stories of YYH characters finding themselves in the throes of labor with babies they didn't even know they were having. These stories are available as one-shots as well, and I'm open to requests, so if there's a situation or pairing you want to see that's not here, let me know in the comments! Shigure stared at Hiei for a moment or two, and then the demon beside him spoke. The words he said would change Hiei’s life forever.
“Well,” said the demon, “he must be in labor with a new one, then.”
“Labor?!” Hiei shouted. “What are you talking about?”
But then another pain rocketed through his body, and he realized he had indeed felt pain like this before.

Five months after the birth of their first child, Hiei and Kurama are settling into their new life as a family; Kurama's business is booming, while Hiei is getting the hang of being a stay-at-home dad. And when a couple with three kids of their own offers to rent their old house, they're happy to have achieved a longstanding goal. But these steps towards a "new normal" only serve to emphasize the fact that their physical relationship has dwindled down to practically nothing. With pain (both physical and emotional), exhaustion, guilt, a Velcro baby always needing their attention, and the memory of a horrible first attempt several months ago, it's not something that's easy to maintain or prioritize. It's not a conversation anyone wants to have, but Kurama's determined to pretend he doesn't have any physical or emotional needs, and Hiei's getting a little sick of it. Sooner or later, someone always has to acknowledge the elephant in the room.

When Kurama, alone and lonely with his mother in the hospital, stumbles across an injured Koorime girl in the forest, he feels compelled to help her. When they visit Shiori, she mistakes Yukina for Kurama's girlfriend, and the two of them go along with it to make her happy. Kurama learns that Yukina has escaped a cruel human who was abusing her, and that she is in Ningenkai to look for her brother, who soon tracks her down. After the loss of his lover, Kuronue, so many years ago, Kurama has sworn never to fall in love again. So he's annoyed when feelings start to form anyway...but not for Yukina.
Hiei's search for Yukina has led him to Ningenkai, where he finds her fraternizing with an unfamiliar yet powerful demon. He is horrified to discover that not only is this a reincarnation of the feared Youko Kurama, but that Kurama's dating his sister. Hiei's not sure if the jealous feelings he gets when he sees the two of them interact are simply the protectiveness of a brother, or a sign of something he'd rather die than acknowledge.
My take on the "fake dating" trope. Enjoy!
