"We were so worried, we heard you—" Ragatha starts, and then looks up. She meets Jax's gaze dead-on, and goes silent. Tears brim in the corner of her eye. Her hand flies up to cover her mouth. He can't tell if the look on her face is relief or fear.
Gangle's staring at him like she's seen a ghost. Pomni slowly raises to her feet, brows furrowed. She winces as every movement jars her wavering form.
Cowered on the floor, panting, confused and disoriented, with everyone standing above him, taller than him… it reminds Jax of something deeply unpleasant. They're all staring at him. They're all seeing him.
Jax knows they're not going to like what they see.
His breath quickens until his head is spinning, and he feels like he's going to vomit. He forces himself upwards with a frustrated cry, swaying in place, and then turns and bolts towards his room as fast as he can.
"NO!" Pomni screams.

sat here reading this in chunks for the past two hours and holy fuck........ the gradual build, how each of the members reestablish themselves as people who Will Not give up on jax, jax's evocative, biting, bleary narration... genuinely this was everything i fucking wanted from a tadc epilogue and this fic gets the honour of making me genuinely fucking tear up at parts dawg just. i could feel the love for the characters and Themes and real palpable desire to make good on Goose's thesis, of finding meaning in what seems like a stagnant life, and all of that just comes from Moving Forward.

Sasuke huffs, pushing a wet strand of hair out of his eyes. “I still plan to do that, don’t worry, idiot.”
“I can hear a ‘but’ in there, Sas, c’mon, spit it out.”
He rolls his eyes. “But you’re going to get sick if we’re out here any longer.”
There’s a pause. A soft intake of breath. It’s then he realizes the enormity of his statement, the raw honesty twined in with the deadpan.
Too much, he thinks frantically. His heart is suddenly too loud in his chest, pounding away like a bass boosted jackhammer.
He was too honest, too open, it was too much and Naruto’s going to—

“Tycho, what the fuck are you–”
Gabe stops; blinks slowly. He’s not exactly sure what he’s supposed to make of what he sees. In front of him is… well, it certainly looks like him, but there’s no way it could be. He’s not that tall, for one, and he’s certainly not that, to use a Brahe-certified turn of phrase, swarthy.
The man– Not-Gabe, he elects to call him –opens his mouth to speak, but no words leave him. In the space, lips slightly parted, Gabe recognizes the familiar silhouette of his crowded teeth. The other man's still got the impacted canine teeth that he himself managed to fend off via modern dentistry.
Maybe-Gabe, he corrects, looks at him; looks at Tycho. In that stare, Gabe recognizes something else familiar, and it twists in his gut, hot and shameful.
The fact that this is the nail in the coffin, the real confirmation of what– or who, rather –he’s looking at, does the opposite of help.
(“What if Gabriel didn’t end up in Underhell after the fall of New Arcadia?”, or, “Is it gay to share your best friend with a version of yourself that is significantly hotter and weirder than you?”)

She had sharp teeth that glinted in the sun. Bakugou thought they looked duller than Kirishima’s. He wished he had him here to compare.
The medicine was making him loopy, that’s what Katsuki would say. After coming back to life, after beating all those villains, and after having his walk to his very best friend interrupted by some girl, Katsuki would blame the medicine keeping his pain at bay. Now, however, he uttered a lame “Sharp.”
The girl paused. “What?” She said, an eyebrow raised. Katsuki just shrugged.
OR:
Pain meds leave Bakugou Katsuki out of it. And this stupid girl won’t leave him alone.
