In July 1987, the final showdown with Vecna begins, and Steve dies in the same way Eddie did: being a distraction to save the others. Vecna is too strong, though, and the only way for the others to save Hawkins and the world is to work with the scientists to find another timeline--a literal alternate universe--and merge that one with theirs. El finds a timeline with no Upside Down, and when they merge, everyone who was killed by Vecna over the years comes back to life.
Featuring: everyone recalling memories from the new timeline, Barb/Steve friendship, and lots of introspection and therapy.
Phenomenal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Ah yes, eyelashes, truly a formidable instrument in managing international relations.”
Alex grins, and Henry is too late to catch the slightest downward lilt on the corner of his mouth, “Worked on you once, didn’t it?”
Oh, did that ache.
