In which Ryland Grace (still a middle-school science teacher) gets dragged into researching a microscopic organism in the Arctic (brrr), gets placed on an isolated ship that has only one survivor from the original crew (yikes!), and ends up making a few... friends? Lovers? Something else? (He doesn't have time for that rn, he's got a job to do!)

No matter what Grace tries to tell him, Simon is very sure that the man is divine in nature. It just makes sense.

Simon winds up in The Enclosure, naturally. Grace is super down to have human company on planet Erid, but he really wishes someone would have given him a little bit of warning first. Especially about Simon’s religious cult upbringing — if he had known about that, he maybe could have planned a better-worded greeting that wasn’t basically, “Be Not Afraid.” He really set them up for failure with that one.

Summary
It's been seven months since Grace met up again with Rocky and they started their journey to Erid.
It's been three months since an unexpected and unexplainable passenger joined the Hail Mary.
Three months of Grace hoping the only other human he's likely to ever encounter will survive despite having horrific injuries that he reasonably shouldn't be able to recover from. But he'd made it so far, it'd be a shame to give up now, right?
