Chell eventually returns to Aperture after struggling to survive on the surface where she and GLaDOS reluctantly come to a deal where Chell gets to stay.
Over time, Chell begins to uncover more about Aperture’s past, bringing up repressed memories for the both of them. -

A decade after the events of Portal 2, Wheatley finds himself back in Aperture, living within the innerworkings of the facility with his creator, Doug Rattmann. Afraid of himself for what he did in the past and plagued by random flashbacks from a corrupted memory file, Wheatley struggles with his own self worth and the challenge of survival in a facility where GLaDOS wants him dead. One day he stumbles across a recording that offers a glimpse into his forgotten past, and he begins to discover what he was really designed for. Through it all, he is still left wondering, where did the beautiful valkyrie really come from, would he ever see her again, and would she ever forgive him?
(This is a deep rewrite of an older fic of mine that I've been messing with for a while now, and I think it's finally ready to be let out into the world. This is mostly just a deep dive into Wheatley's psyche because hee hoo in this house we love angst
Also Wheatley's an AI, every android in this AU has always been an AI, only GLaDOS has a human side. Chapters frequently flip between present and past because of the flashbacks and I hope it's not too confusing oops-) -

And to add insult to injury, GLaDOS decides to give Chell some upgrades, just to make her that much of a problem for whoever ends up the survivor's enemy.
