Chapter Text
The chatter of people around him was endless. Ness stood beside him like a loyal dog. From where he sat, he could see Ego and Noa in a conversation that was clearly going some other way.
Fucking Yoichi was surrounded by players from other teams. All the Japan members and a few members from their own team. He gulped down another glass of cola and stood up. Ness started talking, obviously saying something to him but his eyes were focused on the clown that stood at a distance.
All of a sudden Yoichi turned his head searching for Somone. After a short conversation the fly near him pointed at one of the balconies. The clown smiled and seemed to get ready to go before he was called over by Noa and Ego.
Kaiser and Isagi both looked towards the balcony but Isagi simply frowned and turned to go meet the coaches. This certainly got his attention. The balcony was in a less frequented corner of the hall. He took off in that direction after telling Ness not to follow him. If the person in the balcony got this much attention they may aswell be Isagi’s weakness.
A simple curtain separated him and the figure standing behind the curtain. Weirdy enough he could faintly smell smoke. He moved the curtain and stared in silence,
Itoshi Rin
To be more precise Itoshi Rin with a cigarette between his lips.
Itoshi Rin who was glaring at him.
He quickly took a step forward and dragged the curtain back in its place, effectively covering them from anyone’s line of sight.
“I wasn’t aware Sae’s little brother was old enough for that”, He smirked lowering his eyes to the cig before looking at his eyes. Rin furrowed his eyebrows in irritation as he turned his head sharply to the view of the night forest before them. His nails scratched the railing making Kaiser’s teeth tingle.
“Get the fuck out of here”, Kaiser knew the reason for such anger but he truly did not care. He walked closer to the railing and stood close enough that their elbows touched.
“Little babies should watch their lungs lest they get punctured and are unable to play”
Rin simply reached up to remove the translator he had on his ear, puffed smoke before taking another drag.
“Ha! I had no idea Sae had an addict for a brother, guess I expected too much”, this, Kaiser truly meant. Removing the translator matters little when both parties share a common language.
Rin’s eyes turned to him blazing, “I’m not so pathetic as to get addicted you basterd. It’s been a full year since I last lit one. I am an athlete. I know how to take care of myself”
In a year? Wasn’t Itoshi 17? He vaguely remembers Isagi talking about him being one of the youngest players in Blue Lock.
“What made you light up one today then?”
“Some old basterd offered them and I didn’t have a reason to refuse”, Kaiser frowned at him. “Do Japanese parents not teach their kids to avoid strangers who hand them things?”
Rin rolled his eyes, “I made sure it was a unopened pack, stop this petty act”
“Haa..younger siblings really are a pain”
All of a sudden Rin started laughing. He laid his head on the railing; his shoulders hunched over shaking with laughter as the cig dangled between his fingers.
“Hey, where the fuck did that come from? are you and my brother friends?” Kaiser momentarily froze at the sight of a smile on such a cold face. Was he drunk? The Itoshi’s were famous for their bad personalities, never in his life would he have thought he would see one with a smile.
To be fair, he did look a bit manic. “I guess you could we are”. They weren’t.
The younger took another drag, evidently longer than the last one before crushing it in his hands with no regard of pain and dropping it down below. He walked over to the couch at sat down with his feet on the table. Blankly staring at him.
Something was wrong. Kaiser frowned before sitting on the couch opposite to him. The eyes that followed his movements seemed to empty. Heaving a sigh, he opened his mouth,
“Why do you cling to him like a dog? For someone of your skill I expected better”
The traces of anger and irritation he previously held seemed to disappear as he looked at him with dull eyes. Suddenly the curtain was thrown open and they found themselves face to face with Ness and Isagi.
“Rin…are you alr-”, He froze as he looked at Rin’s empty eyes and turned to Kaiser with blazing ones.
“You basterd what did you say!”
“Tch” Rin stood up and walked over to the balcony, pushing both Isagi and Ness and headed for the exit. Isagi chased him, franticly grabbing for him.
Kaiser simply watched it all happen; Ness came closer and stilled
“Smoke…?”
Kaiser sighed, crossing his legs one over the other and leaned his head back.
