Nearly a week after the incident on the hospital roof, Zane is admiring his boyfriend’s training technique when Jay gasps loudly beside them. “Zane! I need to talk to you!” He says, dragging the other to the side of the deck without further preamble.
“What’s the matter, Jay?” She asks, a healthy mix of confused and concerned.
“Do you like Kai?”
Zane blinks. “Yes?”
“You should talk to him!” Jay says excitedly, “You guys would be so cute together! I know you and Pixal are together but that doesn’t have to mean you can’t all be happy. As long as you talk to her first, you should definitely shoot your shot. I can be your wingman, if you want.”
“I… appreciate the enthusiasm, Jay. I’ll think about it.”
“That’s all I can ask,” Jay says with a smile. Zane… needs to talk with their boyfriend.

“Kai?” Zane asks one Jay has retreated inside and the two have the deck to themselves.
The red ninja drops his form, lowering his sword. “What’s up?”
“We’re not… trying to be subtle, are we?” She asks, ignoring Pixal’s internal comment that they already know the answer.
Kai raises his eyebrow. “No? Why? What’s up?”
Zane laughs disbelievingly, “Jay just offered to wingman me.”
Her boyfriend is taken aback, shaking his head slightly. “With me?” He asks.
“Yes.”
“... I thought we were being pretty obvious.”
“It would seem not, though it is quite possible that Jay is particularly unobservant.” That gets a laugh out of Kai.
“Maybe we should make a formal announcement, then,” Kai suggests, “Just to clear things up, apparently.”

“Hey guys.” Nya says, entering their shared room later that night. “You said you wanted to talk?”
“No?” Jay says, confused.
The blue ninja looks around. “Wasn’t me,” Lloyd says.
“I asked Nya to come,” Zane speaks up, “It has recently come to our attention that Kai and I never explicitly stated that we have been in a committed romantic relationship for the past eleven months.”
Lloyd sputters and Jay likely would have spit-tanked if he had anything in his mouth. “Are you messing with me or am I stupid?” Jay asks, flabbergasted.
“You’re stupid.” Kai tells him, as he crosses the short distance between himself and his partner to give them a kiss that Zane finds himself smiling into. Pulling back slightly, Kai then relaxes into the other, resting his elbow on her shoulder. “We haven’t been trying to be subtle.”
“That’s a bit awkward,” Cole comments, “Jay and I were at least trying.”
Zane jerks back slightly, “Wait, what?” They ask.
The two in question share a glance before Cole continues. “Jay and I have been in a queerplatonic relationship for like, eight months?” He turns to his… partner, Zane supposes.
“Coming up on it, yeah.” Jay confirms, leaning into Cole with an affectionate smile. After a moment, the blue ninja turns to face Nya, giving her a questioning glance.
In response, Nya says, “Me and Jay are also in a QPR, it’s still new, though.” A soft smile spreads across her face.
“Am I the only one not in a secret relationship?” Lloyd raves.
“It would seem so,” Zane supplies, “I am also dating Pixal, but you all already knew that.”
Kai shifts away from Zane to elbow Lloyd teasingly. “Thanks for being our token straight, kid.”
“I’m not even straight!” Lloyd declares, “I mean, I guess I am, but I’m trans.”
“I’m sorry, Lloyd, we shouldn’t have assumed,” Zane apologizes in his boyfriend’s stead, “What are your pronouns?”
“He/him, or he/they, but I’m not picky,” Lloyd says almost shyly.
“Transmasc?” Kai asks softly, getting a nod from Lloyd. “Me too, kid,” He says, pulling the younger into a hug. Zane smiles at the display.
As the two eventually separate, Jay speaks up. “So we’re all gay?”
Cole elbows him in the side. “Is anyone here strictly homosexual, actually?” Kai wonders aloud.
“I’m gay demiromantic asexual,” Cole answers.
Kai nods, “Nice, I’m a bi trans man.”
“As you all are familiar, I’m nonbinary,” Zane adds, “I’m also panromantic asexual.” With her permission and encouragement, Zane continues. “Pixal is pansexual and transfem, she uses any pronouns but prefers she/her.”
“And I think the rest of us are already accounted for,” Lloyd says with a laugh, “Good talk everybody, love you guys.” A handful of hugs and several “love you too”s later, the ninja head to bed, silently scolding themselves for thinking their family would ever think differently of them.
