Summary:

“Children often overreact.”

“No we don’t!”

That statement was partially true, but Tech knew he didn’t mean it about Omega. After all, she could prove she was one tough kid.

AKA little drabbles of Omega being one tough cookie :)

Chapter 1: Playing Mishaps

Chapter Text

Tech and Echo were working on the ship as usual after a mission. It seemed everything was pretty much in tact and so the stress was off their shoulders for now until Hunter decided when their next mission would be.

The two could hear Wrecker and Omega playing behind them, the young girls giggles breaking through the quiet air. Wrecker grinned, trying to grab her quickly when she attempted to make a leap to get to the ship.

“This is unfair! You’re bigger, so it’s easier to block!”

“Life ain’t fair kid!”

Omega dove to get past Wrecker, but the giant clone was quick and grabbed her midair. Omega yelled, a grin on her face as she kicked her legs. Wrecker laughed, twirling her around as he carried her like a clutch.

“Put me down!” Omega laugh, hitting the back of his leg. “Whatever you want, kid.” Wrecker responded and dropped her immediately, the young girl face planting into the dirt. Echo turned just in time to watch, frowning.

Omega coughed the dirt out of her mouth as she glared up at Wrecker, a slight smile to it that she couldn’t contain. “Wrecker, be careful.” Echo warned, watching Wrecker helped Omega up and wiped her face off as she wiped her clothes off.

“We are! We’re just playing!” Wrecker said as he nudged Omega’s shoulder, who grinned and nodded before they switched places.

Echo rolled his eyes and went back to helping Tech as he faintly listened to the two playing behind him. “Alright kid, you haven’t gone easy on me. So I ain’t going easy on you!” Wrecker said as both of them crouched a bit.

“Well, you’re a bigger target, so this’ll be easy!”

“Hey!”

Wrecker attempted to outsmart her for a bit as he tried to make it to the marauder, throwing in a bit of jukes but the young girl was slick and managed to keep track of his movements.

Wrecker eventually got an opening and bolted for it, laughing in the process. Omega grinned, changing her movements to grab after him. She saw that he was just about out of her grasp, and dove to tag him so that she could mark another win in her book.

And she knew she had won when she touched his calf, but her victory smile was quickly wiped away by the heel that slammed into her face midair.

Omega landed roughly on the ground, letting out a yelp that made the three clones near her turn almost immediately. Wrecker gasped and quickly went to her.

“Oh geez, I’m sorry kid!” Wrecker quickly brought her up to look at her face and grimaced at the sight. Blood slowly started to come from a gash on her lip, and he could see small scuffs along her face from face planting into the dirt.

“Ow.” Omega said quietly as her lip began to tremble and faint tears were seen in her eyes. Wrecker felt awful. The fact that a collision from his heel caused a pretty decent size gash on her lip because of the strength he possessed made his stomach turn as he picked her up.

“Hey, hey! It’s okay, kid. You’re okay. Don’t cry.” Wrecker said as Tech and Echo walked up. “What happened?” Echo asked, quickly bringing up his hand to wipe away the dirt on her face. Omega winced, a few tears coming down her face.

“She tripped and fell into my heel! It was an accident!” Wrecker told his brother as Tech examined the gash on Omega’s lip. “Ow.” She mumbled, pushing his hand away.

“Let us go clean it and see what it will need to heal.” Tech said as he took Omega from Wrecker. Wrecker followed him like a lost puppy, the guilt eating at him that he would feel worse if he didn’t come to comfort her.

Tech set his sister down on the copilot seat, going off to fetch his med kit. Omega sniffled, wiping her eyes as Wrecker knelt in front of her. “I’m sorry, kid. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Wrecker apologized, resting his hand over one of hers.

“It’s okay.” Omega sniffled, a faint grin appearing on her face. “I still won.” Wrecker laughed quietly, hearing Tech approach. The engineer knelt in front of his sister and opened his med kit on the floor next to him.

“Now, let’s see.” Tech hummed as he began cleaning her face off with a towel before going in with wipes to help clean the wounds themselves. Omega winced, whining in pain. “Ow, that stings.” She mumbled, trying to pull away but Tech held her chin.

“This will only be a moment.” He said as he got to the gash on her lip. Omega winced back, tears coming to her eyes again at the stinging from the peroxide wipes. Wrecker rubbed her arm comfortingly, a sad gaze on his face.

Echo approached on the other side of Omega, examining her wounds as he crouched down. “How’s it looking?” Echo asked Tech as he fished through his med kit. “The scuffs shall be fine. But the one on her lip will need stitches.”

Omega tensed at that, Wrecker noticing and comforting her. “It’s alright, kid. Probably only be a few.” He said as Tech prepared his needle and numbed the spot with a wipe.

Omega was mostly still, only a few tears escaping from the slight pain and pressure she felt. After a moment, Tech was done and pulled away after finishing off the stitches, cleaning off the cut one more time before pulling away.

“There. I am done.”

“You did great, kid!” Wrecker praised his sister, wiping her tears away as she gently touched the stitches. “Do not mess with them. If anything feels wrong, or overly irritated, tell me immediately.” Tech said, pulling Omega’s hands away from her wound.

Omega nodded. “Thank you.” She said, standing up and hugging her brothers leg. Tech couldn’t help but smile slightly as he leant down and pressed a kiss in her hair. “Of course, ad’ika.”

Tech went to put away his med kit as Wrecker and Echo stood up beside Omega. She went to the mirror in the refresher and looked at the stitches with a look on her face.

“Do you think it’ll leave a scar?” She asked Wrecker when he appeared by her side again and hoisted her on the counter to help get a better look at it. The giant clone looked a bit panicked.

“Oh, well, uh, maybe. I dunno. You’ll have to ask Tech.”

Omega turned to him and did her best attempt to pout with the wound. “I hope it does. That would look cool.” Wrecker couldn’t help the smile on his face from that response, and also from the fact he could tell Omega was trying her best to speak normal with the wound.

“Hey, I’m back.” Hunter’s voice echoed through the ship. Wrecker sighed. “You better go tell him.” He nudged Omega out toward the cockpit.

“Tell me wh—maker, Omega! What happened?” Echo rolled his eyes at the sight of Hunter immediately going to baby his sister, not that Omega minded one bit since she got attention.

Hunter looked over her face, an unwritten expression on his face as he gently trace the wound with his thumb. Omega winced. “I leave for two hours! Two hours, and this happens!” Hunter exclaimed as he stood up.

Echo sipped a cup of caf with a look on his face. “Wrecker’s been shot and blow up how many times, i’ve been blown up and experimented on, Tech been chucked across a million battlefields, you’ve almost been assassinated, Crosshair has fallen from greater heights and thisis where you drawn the line?”

Omega giggled for a moment before wincing and stopping from the pain of smiling with her stitches. Hunter shook his head, knowing Echo was right but didn’t care because this was his baby sister they were talking about.

“So, what happened?”

Echo saw the evil glint in Omega’s eye that she always got when she knew she was about to start drama, so he proceeded to lean back, sip his caf and enjoy the show.

“I beat Wrecker again so he punched me.”

Echo did the greatest spit take he managed, coughing aggressively as Wrecker popped out of the refresher in a heartbeat with a shocked look on his face, Tech grinning from the cockpit behind Hunter.

Huh?

“He what?” Hunter exclaimed, both confused and angry as he shot record a look. “That’s not what happened! Echo, Tech, tell him, please!” Wrecker yelled, fearing slightly for his life at the moment.

Echo laughed hard, leaning over in his chair as Omega grinned. “I’m kidding.” She said and Hunter relaxed, sighing. “Kid, I think you saved a life.” Echo said, snorting and going to take another sip of caf.

“Wrecker and I were playing a game and I dove to tag him and his heel got me in my face. It was my fault.” Omega told him and Hunter sighed again. “Well, next time let’s be more careful and not dive for our brothers for a game.” He said, picking up his sister. She huffed and stretched her arms out dramatically.

“But I won again!”
