the wolf’s ears flick, and its gaze sharpens, fixing zayne with an intensity that sends a shiver down his spine. for a long moment, there’s only silence, the air thick with something unspoken. then, slowly, the beast inclines its head—just a fraction, barely a movement at all.
zayne scoffed, shaking his head. “so you can understand me.”
another slow blink. a flick of the tail.
zayne wasn’t sure if he imagined it, but he swore the wolf looked amused.
“fenrir it is, then,” he murmurs.
