Summary
Although the curtains were drawn, there was still faint light. She wished she could see more of him than an outline, wished he’d let her keep the candles burning, but this was all miracle enough—she wasn’t going to press the issue, not when it had taken so much to get him in front of her like this, his shoulders shaking, her hand stuck hot on the hollow of his back as her hips snapped into him.

“Because, you know,” Karlach continued, “My body could burn you right up.” She drew a scorching finger across his shoulder to emphasize her point. To his credit, Gale didn’t even flinch. “I have to use certain… tools to be with my partners. And if they can’t be in me, well… Is that what you want me to do, Gale? To take you?” Karlach leaned down closer, now inches from his face.
Gale licked his lips and slowly, deliberately nodded.
Karlach grinned.

Summary
"Sabine never heard of Tassing in her life until about a week into her marriage, when she’d dug one of her most prized possessions – a shoddily printed map that covered most of the continent – out of the bottom of a bag and made Andreas trace everywhere he’d been with the tip of a finger. She never had much cause to travel when she was young, but she always found the idea so intriguing – new places, new people, new stories and language and customs. She never could abide the idea that there was so much out there she might never get to know."
Twenty years on from her husband's death, Sabine takes a chance to visit Tassing. It isn't what she expects.

Summary
To say that Sybil wasn’t prone to dramatics would be like saying that she had a tidy little fund tucked away for a rainy day, or a passing interest in dragons - which is to say, a massive understatement. This put her in the very unhappy position of knowing exactly how to tell her husband what he needed to do, but having absolutely no idea how to ask for what she wanted.
