Summary
Dennis Whitaker has been running for longer than he'd like to admit. Each time he's run from something, he's always had this feeling that he'd never stop. That he'd never find a place to build a home.
Except each time he's reminded of his past, and Dennis is so fucking sure he needs to run again, someone's there to pull him back and remind him that he's home. That he just needs to open up, let them in.
(And the one time he's told he should run is the one time he says no.)

Dennis knows he's not the best when it comes to self-care. Or, he wasn't for a long time. Living with Trinity has made it possible to care for himself again, but sometimes he forgets that he's not alone. That he can ask for help and he doesn't need to work himself into an early grave.
Or, Dennis has trouble asking for help and is going to die on his hill. Until he realizes he shouldn't.
5+1 things, in which Dennis is sick/injured/etc, and everyone else made it their problem. And the one time Dennis came to them because he was down so bad, but they were happy he finally trusted them before he bit the dust.

Dennis Whitaker has a complicated life and an even more confounding backstory. He loves his family, he loves his job, and he loves his very attentive, very wonderful boyfriend. Who's also his attending.
But that's not even his issue. His issue is that his aunts decide to turn up, at his work place mind you, to freak him out and bother him with ill-timed affection and attention. It's no matter, he can handle it.
He is handling it. Right up until he and, by proxy, the rest of the ER are taken hostage by a patient.
Oh well, guess there's no time like the present to confront all of his issues head on, right?
