Summary
With Becca happily wrapped up in a life of her own, an impulsive Fourth of July karaoke night leaves Mel with an unexpected kiss from Frank Lagdon and far too much free time. Her coworkers decide that this is a problem and together they make her a list of everything she's somehow never done. Go to a concert, cheer at a Pens game, take a road trip, get drunk on a Tuesday, maybe even have a one night stand. One by one, they're determined to help her cross off every item.
Meanwhile, Frank is back at PTMC after a ten month leave of absence as he tries to survive a divorce and ignore the growing feeling that being "just friends" with Mel isn't going to be enough.

Summary
Actually, Mel's excited about a lot of things going into the new school year. She’s excited to co-teach with Dr. Mohan and Mr. Langdon. She’s excited to continue supporting the kids on her caseload from the previous year, and she knows writing their IEPs will go so much better now that she knows them and their families a little. She’s excited that her Physics class will be entirely made up of students she taught in Chemistry the previous year; they were a great group.
There are things to worry about, too. Co-teaching with two new people again. The daily possibility that she’s going to do something overwhelmingly embarrassing in front of Langdon. Still not knowing where she should go during her prep periods. That she’s going to be just as alone as she’s always been at work, but with some added disappointment because she’s let her hopes get up, just a little.
There’s no way that she and Langdon can co-teach as well as she hopes. She’s sure her bubble will burst soon enough, that her crush will fade, and everything will settle back to baseline.

Picks up right where the final moments of the show left off:
Eun Chaeni and Lee Un-jeong zapped into existence in the middle of his apartment, her arms still banded tightly around his chest, bodies pressed together even after they realised where they’d ended up. If anything, she squeezed him more aggressively, as if making a point. His ribs were still sore and the rest of him wasn’t much better either, but he didn’t care - the pain reminded him that she was here, she was tangible, she was alive.
“Sorry,” she said sheepishly, but he could hear the smile in her voice, betraying the fact that it had been entirely intentional. “I got excited.”

“I can explain,” she rushes out, even though she has actually no idea how to explain.
“Yeah, can you explain why I found this out from a Twitter thread instead of from you?” Bobby says. He grabs his phone and pulls up a web page, then slides the phone over to Rumi.
She freezes.
It’s not some tell-all about her secret demon identity.
She looks down at the photo, taken by some resourceful paparazzo, of Jinu waving goodbye as he slips out the back of her condo building. In the background, blurry but still obviously her, is Rumi.
