Roger would be best described as miserable in his current moment. He didn't want to play the bloody drums anymore. He felt like garbage. The sound sounded like fucking garbage as well. He just wanted to go home and lay down, with his boys maybe, and just forget his troubles with a Disney film.
"Are we done with this yet, Freddie?" he asked, looking up at him through the glass. "My arms are gonna fall off if I go through this again."
"No. I was thinking more of a club music edge, like what Paul was talking about," Freddie gave him a hard look, "you can bugger off once we've finished."
"Ugh, Christ,' Roger mumbled, kicking the kick drum with the tip of his shoe. "Then why didn't you say that about nine takes ago?"
"Roger, shut your face for a bit and we might just get this done." Freddie snarled, looking over at Paul for the go ahead on the tape. Although it looked to Brian as if he was looking for approval.

Roger understood why Brian was kept behind a desk now. He was boring. Boring as sin. Here they were, at a party neither of them could've afforded, just keeping an eye on things undercover, and Brian was stiff as a post. He hardly even SMILED for Christ's sake. They were supposed to be a couple, but they looked like a couple on the verge of a divorce.
Brian hated this. He wasn't a field agent, and wasn't even trained in it. He definitely wasn't social. Brian lived for work, on computers, behind a desk, enjoying tea and biscuits while /other/ people did all this shit.

"So you failed too." John was still scowling, walking up to the blond. Extra credit work... Why couldn't he have been given curse work in the underworld, or admin or something. No, no he had to look after a human. "Where have they dropped you?"
"UK, where it's all cold and drippy and stuff. Probably something you're familiar with." He put his hands in his pockets: He'd already manifested some appropriate human clothes.
"I went there once, only for a single human year. It was nice though, they'd just started their kingdoms and languages," John shrugged, changing to wear something similar to Roger, "1960s... That's after industry and before informatics right?"
"Don't ask me, I'm the worst for that," he told him. "Better get used to it. If I fuck up, well… probably banished, aren't I?"
"I hate to say it, but yeah. They'll strip you of your powers if your mortal doesn't have a better life than he's currently destined for."

Roger couldn't count his regrets. Here he was; old, tired, lonely. No more Queen, no more… friends, really. He'd lost them, one after another, and now he was just Roger. It wasn't just that they were gone. It was the fact that they were gone and he'd missed out.
