“Oh, is that what this is about? You’re jealous?” Shane’s voice cracked on the last word, like he couldn’t even believe it. “You’re fucking with me.”
He started laughing, though not like he was amused. It was bitter, and Ilya could taste the tang of it even from three steps away.
“Oh my fucking god, you’re actually jealous. Fuck you, man! That’s just– why?” Ilya startled at the question.
“What do you mean, why?”
“Why are you jealous?” Shane was like a dog with a bone; Ilya couldn’t even begin to deny it now, not when he had laid his cards out so plainly, for anyone and everyone - especially Shane - to see.

Summary
The look on Shane’s face wasn’t pity, it was the same fierce determination he got on the ice, like there was a play to make or a problem to fix. Summary
Shane obeyed beautifully, the cherry flaring, and he pulled away after just a couple of seconds. He followed Ilya to a tee, holding his breath and releasing. He barely coughed as the smoke passed his lips.
Ilya was impressed, and more than a little turned on. “Perfect Shane Hollander, can even hit a joint like a natural.”
“You’re such an asshole.”
“Maybe.” Ilya plucked the joint from the other man, taking a long hit and blowing it towards the open window. “But I think you like it.”

Summary
Shane’s eyes flitted down to his half-empty beer, the condensation soaking his hand. He took a sip, half to have something to do besides avoid Ilya’s stare, half hoping it would provide a little liquid courage. Unfortunately, it had sat for too long, the liquid becoming room temperature, and Shane couldn’t help his grimace as it slid down his throat.
Ilya, who still hadn’t looked away, let out an amused huff at Shane’s evident misery.
“Do you want something better?” Ilya’s voice was low, a bit hoarse. Seductive, if Shane had to put a name to it, but that could have been the hopeful part of his brain talking. He only arched an eyebrow in response, not trusting his own voice to carry his words. It seemed to be enough for Ilya. “Follow me.”

By the time Shane caught up to where Ilya had snuck into a hallway, he’s disappeared from view. Shane stood there, glancing around at a couple closed doors, when he was pulled into a bathroom behind him. Someone muffled his cry of surprise, and all the struggle bled from his body as he was encased in a familiar scent.
The space was a health hazard, mysterious liquids on the floor and beer cans littered in the tub. If he looked close enough, he’s pretty sure he could spot a pair of panties nestled in the mix.
Still, very little could sway Shane from his mission tonight - not even his neat freak tendencies.
As soon as the lock on the door was flipped, Shane was crowded against it, head smacking the hard wood as Ilya’s mouth attacked his neck. They hadn’t even said a word to each other.

Summary
Ilya, who is barely tamping down a smile, almost certainly at Shane’s expense. Shane feels his face flush with heat, and he for a fact that he’s approaching a shade of flaming red. This is not how this was supposed to go.
He figured he would meet Ilya on set, surrounded by crew members and cameras and lights. He never imagined he’d be in a confined space, no one around but the distance bustle of everyone setting up down the hall.
So sue him for being caught a bit off guard.
“Hi, I’m Shane. Hollander.” He sticks a hand out for Ilya to shake, wincing internally like it might be the wrong move. Shane can't tell if it's a good or bad thing, but Ilya’s face breaks into a full smile then, and he takes Shane’s hand.

His entire life, Shane had always done exactly what he was supposed to do, exactly what was expected of him. He trained hard, became the best at hockey, won games, won Cups, and nothing had ever felt like the touch of Ilya against him.
He knew why he was running: Ilya had gotten too close to the messy inside of his heart, the very thing he had tried to keep locked away tight behind walls and guards and barbed comments. Shane had never been good at going after what he really wanted, at least not outside of hockey. And now he was here, being offered everything he never knew he needed and would always be terrified to take.
