Summary
Steve drives quietly for a blessed few minutes, then he clears his throat and darts a look at her again. “You know, I get bad dreams too. After all the hell we’ve been through, I don’t know how we couldn’t have bad dreams.”
“Steve, seriously, I don’t want to talk about it.”
Steve’s quiet again and Max’s head is starting to feel fuzzy, but she refuses to give in and ask to be taken home. Not after she made such a big stink about it.
“I went to a gay bar tonight.”
Max blanches, mouth dropping open, and she gapes at Steve. She’s awake now.
“What?”

“I….” Steve stared down at James with wide, unblinking eyes. James’ finger drew tiny circles on Steve’s pec, causing his brain to go uselessly blank.
“Stevie?” James whispered, so quietly that Steve had to lean in closer to be sure he could hear him.
“Yes?”
James stepped back abruptly and turned around, revealing a wide expanse of goldenly tan skin and a curved, tempting spine. “Zip me up now, sugar?”
Steve bit back a frustrated groan at James’ ability to play him like a fiddle and choked out a hoarse, “Of course.”

Steve is on tour as Captain America, getting money for war bonds and generally hating his life — except, of course, when he gets to spend time with Bucky Barnes, one of the Star Spangled Singers and holder of the Captain's heart.

Helene leaned closer and aggressively whispered at him, “Because you also have romance and meaningful feelings for each other and everything a real relationship has, sans the label.”

“I wrote you a letter.” Bucky looked down and carefully folded the piece of paper. He got to his feet and offered it to Steve.
His brow furrowed. “What is this?”
“It’s the letter,” he explained.
Steve blinked. “You remembered an entire letter you wrote at basic?”
He nodded.
Steve looked down at the piece of paper and then back up at him.
“I think I kept it for a while,” he explained. “Must have reread it a lot, or something. I don’t know.”
Steve’s eyes started to mist. “You wrote me a letter.”
“I wrote you a letter.”
OR
Bucky was taken into custody during his visit at the Smithsonian, and Steve fights anybody who gets in his way while trying to get him back. Bucky doesn't remember Steve, but he knows him.
