Summary
“Do not compare the love that a woman can bear me and that I owe to Olivia,” Orsino muttered, shaking his head.
“Ay, but I know!” the page boy shouted, his features pinched and flushed. His chest heaved as he breathed, apparently overcome with the force of his own outburst.
“What do you know?” he asked softly.
Cesario stepped forward, his footfalls near silent as he made his way from the other side of the room, until he eclipsed the chandelier, eclipsing Orsino in darkness. The boy’s lips were pressed tight together, his hands clasped in wringing prayer, his eyes shining like blackened pearls.
“Too well what love women to men may owe,” Cesario whispered.

Summary
It was strange to think of him. Cesario. The play-pretend boy she’d fashioned out of her brother’s memory and her own skin. The boy who’d charmed his way into the laps of a Duke and a Countess.
It should have been enough to leave him behind and take up herself once more. She’d told Antonio, heart pounding in confusion and half-way hope, that she hated ingratitude in a man more than any other sin. What did that say about herself, then? She had her brother back, safe and happy in her arms. She had a sister now too. She finally had Orsino, to whom she would be married within the week. Yet, somehow, there was something caving in her chest.

Summary
“My hair’s not that red,” Wylan scowled, pulling at his hair self-consciously.
“Right and I’m not the most handsome man you’ve ever seen.”
It was a small work of miracle that they were interrupted before Wylan could deem him a response. The operator slammed his meaty hand against the beam the stranger was leaning on, startling them both.
“Fahey,” he growled. Wylan’s foolish, foolish heart skipped a beat. His name was Fahey; it was a Kaelish surname. That explained the grey eyes. “Pay up. Boek ain’t running a charity here. You lose, you fork over the kruge. I ain’t asking you again.”
Fahey’s easy smile didn’t fade as much as it tightened. The twinkle was gone and Fahey seemed more like a caged animal. Wild. Desperate.

Summary
Turning around, Wylan came nose to nose with a boy. A boy he had decidedly never seen before. Wylan would remember if somebody so pretty haunted these halls. Dark brown and unreasonably tall, the man was dressed in the roughspun of a groundsman. But his grey eyes glinted too much mischief and too little recognition. His lips – Ghezen he had the prettiest lips – were slightly parted at the shock of Wylan’s presence.
They breathed in tandem for a moment or two, like some sort of clockwork creation. Then the boy’s expression melted into a slow, sly grin.
“Funny finding you here."
Or the one where Jesper breaks into the Van Eck mansion and commits mild identity theft.

Summary
It isn’t that Daniel is looking for him, per se. He resents any comparisons to the Vampire Armand tailing a guileless Daniel Molloy across states, countries, and continents, memories which are still foggy and undefined. Armand, Daniel has come to piece together, has crept across three separate landmasses and basically every city that one could conjure up in a tour of continental Europe in pursuit of Daniel. He doesn’t know much about that time, about the boy that he was, but he is sure that that much is true.
It’s just that Daniel is already touring the country, and if he keeps his senses tuned to any ancient vampires with heartbeats in perfect tandem with his (while also inquiring after the aforementioned paired entity every couple of calls to the closest thing to his vampire mentor, due to some extraneous circumstances), well, who could blame him?

Summary
"I know what a breakup looks like," Daniel says. "The better question is, why are you coming to me about it? I'm the one who broke up your little sham."
"This is what humans do, don't they?" Armand asks, letting his voice drop. "Crashing on their friends' couches when there's a blip in their romances?"
"Except we're not friends. We're actually very much not friends." Daniel shrugs, as if it's all the same to him. "And I can't imagine the great vampire Armand deigning himself to sleep on my fucked-up sofa. That thing's been here since the nineties."
"Well," Armand only says. "I saw you have a guest bedroom."

Summary
“So,” Mom says one weekend afternoon as she and Robin stare down the Sunday Times crossword, huddled together on the porch swing, “you and Steve Harrington sure have been living in each other’s pockets lately.” She puts down the pen and gives Robin a carefully-probing smile disguised as a teasing one. “Anything you wanna tell me?”
Yeah; I’m gay, Robin thinks. Her throat constricts painfully. “I—you’d know if I were dating someone,” she says instead.
