She cleared her throat, not bothering to take more than a passing glance at the menu board, and the barista’s head jerked up, her notebook and pen dropping out of sight. Behind her glasses, her eyes were an even more vivid, electric blue than her hair, planting goosebumps along Maki’s arms.
Maki needs a new job. A serendipitous encounter might just give her a lead.

It’s just… Himiko steps inside the shop and doesn’t bother holding the door for Kokichi, looking around. The inside resembles a veritable jungle of plants, with vines hanging off the doorway and flowers blooming from every corner. The shelves are completely obscured in greenery, pretty leaves criss crossing along walkways, tall flowers drooping everywhere Himiko looks. She picks her way through the shelves to get a peek at the cash register, where the florist is busy assembling a bouquet for a waiting customer.
Himiko’s heart does its typical skip and hop routine, and then she ducks back behind a shelf, ignoring Kokichi’s hissing snicker at her side. What a jerk. She turns around and busily starts collecting flowers for a bouquet, mostly reds, not really thinking about what she’s grabbing.
“You’re down bad bad,” Kokichi comments.
“Shut up,” Himiko responds, her neck flaring with heat.

Himiko takes her weekly trip to the flower shop, accompanied by Kokichi, for the purpose of having a conversation with the pretty florist who works there.

Summary
It seems Korekiyo was on the same page, because when they enter the apartment, one of the first things Himiko does is check the kitchen. The fridge works, but the cupboards are empty. They’re going to have to drink from cupped hands until they go shopping.
“Huh.” Himiko closes a drawer. “Exactly what they told us to expect.”
“It’s minimalist,” Korekiyo comments quietly, from where they’re studying one of the couches. Himiko snorts involuntarily.
That’s the other thing about Korekiyo. They’re hard to hate. Not because of how sorry they are—though really, it is hard to stay angry at someone so openly repentant—but because they’re so… well, no. Likeable just isn’t true. Korekiyo still has that annoying habit where they’ll state things about you you hadn’t noticed, that you maybe don’t like all that much. But they’re kind of funny. Sometimes they even mean to be. Himiko enters the living room to stand next to them. The carpet is soft beneath her bare feet.
“It’s minimalist,” Himiko echoes. “At least the couches aren’t monochrome.”

Summary
“You know,” they falter at the concerned way her lips turn, the lazy flutter of her eyelashes. This would be easier, Korekiyo thinks, if they didn’t like her so much. But if they didn’t like her so much, then they suppose they wouldn’t be doing it at all. “There is something that I wanted to talk to you about.” They finally say, lacing their fingers together under the table and watching Himiko’s expression shift from worry to curiosity. She doesn’t speak, but her eyes shift slightly, as though urging them to continue. “It pertains to… our relationship. So to speak,” they add quickly, in case relationship is too serious a word to use to describe what they have going on.
Thankfully, Himiko appears unbothered.
