Red has always been his color.
A man who tries to hold the weight of the world in his hands, and suffocates for it. A man who smiles often, but never from ear to ear. A man who gives himself to others, and never requests anything in return.
A genius. An artist. A beautiful flower. An elaborate painting. An unreachable bird.

No, Alhaitham thinks, it was not. His books failed to describe the emotional weight that came with it. Alhaitham, who always held himself together with ease, crumbled down the moment their bodies had become one. No book he has read prepared him for the possessiveness that followed after, the desire to tease, the need for more. No description of the act included lingering thoughts of Kaveh, sprawled on a divan, near-nude with such a needy expression. No words he has read warned him of love, and desire, and want.
No, Alhaitham thinks, it was not. It was so terribly better.
