Summary
Din takes a breath, his heart about to beat out of his chest, watching the fireworks paint Luke in reds and blues.
“I missed you,” he says, almost too soft to hear over the city noise.
Luke’s eyes go wide and his lips part on a soft oh, something close to awe in his eyes. As if he has anything to be surprised about. The surprise melts into a soft smile, a spark of something still lingering.
“I missed you, too.” Luke glances away and shrugs. “I always miss you.”
(While on Coruscant to introduce Mandalore to the New Republic, Din Djarin tries and fails to keep his affections for his son’s teacher under control. Or, the events of three rules (back straight, head forward) told from Din’s POV.)

He grimaced under his helmet, and started getting his ammunition in order. He hadn’t planned on this at all. He was only on this damned snowy planet because Luke had made those eyes at him, the big sincere ones that always tugged at something in his damn fool gut, and had said “wouldn’t it be nice to have a holiday?” Grogu had heard this and then also made big sincere eyes at him, and he’d even used the word “yes,” which was a real treat in comparison to the *no* he’d been so fond of lately, and Din hadn’t had a chance. A holiday had sounded nice: some time away from Luke’s responsibilities with the New Jedi Order, a break from Grogu’s training, a break from hunting so that he could focus on his own tiny aliit instead of the larger covert.

Now was the part that needed some acrobatics. He drew his legs up towards his belly and then began to extend one leg up as he held his core tight. His body began to twist and tilt in the harness. He started to extend the other leg, and reached out to the flat wall off the overpass to hold himself in place.
This was awkward as hell, because he was going to be writing nearly upside down, but he could do it.
Very carefully, he sprayed his name in neat block letters under Mando’s.
He made the tittles over the j and the i hearts, just to be like that.

Summary
He is, Luke gasps, actually going to be sick now. The pain in his scars turns yellow and slow, pulsating underneath his ribs. He can’t speak or gesture, having to hold still to avoid jostling his right hand still cradled by his chest. Sweat sticks his undershirt to his shoulders. This is a very embarrassing moment to be having with the hottest parent of one of his students. Saliva pools under his tongue, an iron taste rising with it. In a moment of panic his brain wills him to think it’s blood, and Luke’s eyes snap to the blurry visor in front of him.
The Mando must see something, because he rises and practically vaults over the table the Jedi is sitting at to the proper kitchen portion of the cantina, throwing open cabinets. Luke closes his eyes again.Or Din is careening towards the sun that is Luke and the Jedi is ready to catch him. Through sickness, crazy kids, tension-filled sparing, cultural differences, and even space politics Luke and Din slowly fall in love. Din secretly proposes to the Jedi through an old tradition, and he would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for that pesky Boba Fett.
