Summary
"Nice meeting you, Phil."
"I prefer not to be called Phil, thank you," Phillip immediately interjected. Anybody who called him that was asking for it.

Taking a calming breath, he swallowed down the worst of his nerves and asked, “So you liking me.. Does that mean you’d be open to...”
“Not another musical, Blanc. Not the album, not in person. You want me to enjoy Sondheim, we’re putting on The Last of Sheila again.”
Benoit nodded, quietly making a note of Phillip’s newfound distrust of him. “I was going to ask if you were open to staying the night. In my bedroom? Not to sound like I’m easy but...”
“No. No. I would love for you to sound easy. The idea is rather exciting.”
Just can't stop reading these Meet-cutes😆

Summary
Benoit Blanc was a man you could describe as "eccentric". He was a private detective, but only solved cases he deemed interesting enough. And when he did, the most bizarre twists and turns were always revealed. It seemed like everything he was involved with had to be extraordinary. Exciting.
That's why Phillip was surprised when Benoit made... advances.
It all started with a lemon meringue pie.

Summary
“Rough day, eh?” Phillip asked.
“Confounding. Absolutely confounding,” was how the man chose to answer. “The crux of the matter seems most certainly to be banquet, and yet not a hint of malice was cooked into any of the dishes. No poison in the duck, nothing slipped in the wine. For the life of me, I can’t parse it out.”
Phillip stared at him for a moment, before throwing out another handful of rice to the ducks. “I’m sorry, what?”

Bookmarker's Notes
Then, the other man steeled, found his resolve, turning to face Phillip. “You are, however, the most riveting intermission, so much so that I don’t want to return to the play. I would like to, instead, linger longer.”
Intermission. It sounded intriguing. It sounded, while not quite the kind of adventure Ted may have wished for him, the kind of adventure he’d enjoy. The quiet middle of a loping tale that Benoit would regale him with, finding peace on this bench before heading out into the fray.
