Sirius is a foster kid in east Texas, 17 years old, nearing very close to the brink of legal adulthood -- he's just gotta hold out for a few more months. Hold it together for 90 or so days. Then Alphard's trust will open and he's home free.
He thought he was gonna ride out those 90 days in the group home, but plans change. Still, he's certain he can do it just as well with this new family; some guy and his tall, quiet son. Just last a few months.

When Patrick tromps into the visiting locker room of the Wells Fargo Center after the second, there’s a giant goose standing in front of his stall. HONK! It goes. Behind Patrick, Bur squeaks and promptly trips over his skates in shock. “I think it’s for you, Peekaboo,” Seabs calls out from the exercise bike in the corner, pointing helpfully.
“No it’s not,” Patrick says automatically, even though the goose is staring him down with beady black eyes that won’t move from his. HONK, it says again, rising tall on its webbed feet and flapping its wings.

“One letter. Twenty-five pounds. After that, you’re on your own,” Remus told her flatly. He knew it was wrong to mess around with someone's heart like that, but there were bills to pay.
“Yes!” The girl pumped her fist excitedly. Remus tried not to be endeared by it. “You’re a pretty alright person, you know.”
