The cell was colder than Avid expected.
That was stupid of him to think. Obviously the cell he'd made specifically to house himself when—if he got turned would be cold, with his dead skin and still veins and numb limbs and the icy silver that inhabited it with him. Nothing about him was warm anymore—and it's not like he deserved to be. He'd chosen to die, to give up the shreds of humanity he'd been grasping at for years in hopes of a cure for himself just to end up dying. He was dead.
or, when Pyro finds Avid hiding in his jail cell, they decide he can't be trusted to navigate vampirism on his own and decides to be his mentor. Avid isn't particularly fond of this idea.

"B, shut up!" Jimmy whined, throwing his head back to get the hair out of his face—and for the drama, but he'd never admit that. "I want to see if this'll work."
"Like all the other times?" Bigb deadpanned, lazily floating in midair behind Jimmy as he worked. Worked might have been a strong word for what he was doing—digging through Bigb's grave for her coffin. "Dude, just give up."
or, Jimmy and Bigb try to figure out what happened when Bigb died. They're not good at it. They also get easily distracted.

Avid blinks and shoves himself up and around to properly look at Viking. "What?"
"It's a simple question, Avid," Viking smiles, but it looks vacant, empty. "Are you actually happy being part of the Mass?"
Of course I'm happy, he starts to say, this is the greatest joy I've ever experienced, I want everyone in the entire universe to feel how wonderful I feel. The words are rote, repeated so often they've worn a groove in his brain; they're the words he recites every time he's questioned, the words he could recite in his sleep.
The words he doesn't recite this time.

The silver axe dips gently into his line of sight. “Don’t become a problem, doc.”
“He did this to me,” Legundo growls.
“And once he’s cured, we can change you back too,” Abolish says. Whatever irregularity had disquieted his heart has eased, the pulse settled back into regulated meter. The axe doesn’t move. “I don’t need to kill you.”
Owen rolls his head towards Abolish, and in the process – intentionally or not – bares his neck further. “Oh, don’t spoil the fun, Abolish. He and I both knew it would come to this. I turn him, he kills me; fitting, in the end.”
An AU oneshot where newly-turned Legundo catches up with Owen and Abolish before they reach the beacon.
