Summary
Two ragged young men stand weary and hesitant on the outskirts of Ghost Valley, where they can barely make out the terrifying stone giants carved into the mountain’s face. Once they enter, they will never leave.
There they meet Wuchang Gui, a young man, ambitious and cunning, plotting for the throne in Ghost Valley. Knowing he will need allies, he offers protection in exchange for loyalty and support.
They agree, provided that he not separate them.
Wuchang Gui’s lip curls, “Your… attachment… is far too obvious – a liability, here.”
The brothers interlock their fingers and stare him down with cold eyes – numb to horror, too tired to fear.
“Together, or not at all,” they vow.*********
