“But I let you down, Rook,” he tried to say. What didn’t she get about that? She broke him out of prison for one express purpose, to do the thing he did best, and he hadn’t done it. He hadn’t even come close.
Her dark eyes scorched right through to the quick of him. The hard set of her lovely red mouth pursed, like she was willing to fistfight him right here and now to force him to concede.
“You’ve never once let me down, Lucanis,” she said, fiercely, and Lucanis almost wanted to cry.
Note: This fic is a relatively brief interlude that takes place roughly before and immediately following the Siege of Weisshaupt, imagining how the almost-kiss felt from Lucanis' perspective as well as how that situation might've been resolved before the relationship being left to slow cook until the end of the game.

Since he wasn’t going to give her the chance, she stopped thinking.
Ignoring the staff and its need for Veil focus, she reached out with her free hand for the undeniably more dangerous raw magic of the Fade. Her arcane instinct told her it would be easy to access in the pocket reality of the Crossroads. Indeed, it answered instantly, swirling around her with frightening ease.
“We can give it a go, if that’s what you want,” she called instead.
Lucanis laughed. “And how will you do that with your staff so occupied, hmm?”
She didn’t answer. She just formed the lightning and threw.
—After Weisshaupt, Lucanis is rattled, and asks Rook to help him understand this strange symbiosis with Spite the only way he knows how—by asking her to fight him. Rook reluctantly agrees. An arduous fight to the finish ensues, where they both learn things about each other along the way.
Post-Weisshaupt, Pre-Bloodbath/Inner Demons/the meat of their arc. They're grappling with their burgeoning feelings for each other while physically grappling, y'all.

Summary
Dragon Age Kiss Week 2025
Day 1 — Morning
During their time apart after the fall of the Evanuris, Lucanis takes a risky forty-eight hours to visit Rook in Arlathan after being apart for nearly eight weeks.
Day 2 — Tavern
Rook, Lucanis, and Spite play a game of Wicked Grace while Neve does all the important parts of the mission.
Day 3 — Fade
Lucanis lets his guard down during a long stint of sleepless nights and ends up dozing. All the while he dreams of Rook and Spite takes the time to wander.
Day 4 — Famous Landmark
Lucanis teaches Rook to swim. Sort of.
Day 5 — Battlefield
Rook sustains an injury during a mission and tries to heal herself alone. She does not remain alone for very long.
Day 6 — Reunion
After weeks in the Fade Prison Rook returns to the Lighthouse and finally concludes unfinished business between herself and her beloved Crow.
Day 7 — Celebration
Rook celebrates her very first Satinalia. Not only is this the first Satinalia since the fall of the Evanuris, but she's also spending it in Treviso with the Antivan Crows First Talon.Series
