This surprises Viktor, a slight rise of his brows betraying his indifference. Of course he cares about that— the sheriff’s been getting antsy about the murders in both Piltover and Zaun recently and one of her closest confidants knows exactly who it is.
“I haven’t told her about you. Please, V. Help me out here?”
Viktor leans back, looking over him, appraising him like he deserves. A good sign. Then he nods towards Jayce.
“Take your pants off.”
Jayce chokes, malfunctions.
“What?”It's been a year since Viktor went missing. It's been three months since he's started showing up to drink Jayce's blood every few weeks before disappearing again. Jayce is going to get his partner back, no matter how much blood it costs him.

Summary
Jayce is admittedly a little nervous as he makes the trek to Viktor's shitty apartment. He hasn't been to class in days, and a deadline is coming up for one of their projects.
Sometimes Viktor gets in these moods.
He won't eat, won't leave his house, rarely his bed– It's like he's trying to make himself non-existent, like if he curls up small enough he'll disperse into nothingness
or;
Viktor is like a work in progress, a prototype; his angles too sharp, his mind too unstable. One wrong move, and the whole thing could fall apart. He's infuriating.
Jayce thinks he loves Viktor as much as someone like him can love another person.
Viktor assures him he absolutely does not.

Summary
He thinks about - fantasises, really - sometimes, of another explosion in their lab. Blinding, arcing blue and collapsing rubble, and burning papers and the two of them, as always. Jayce and Viktor, brilliant minds, had so much promise, such a shame, nameless under the ring of debris and still clasping onto the magnitude of their dream embedded in their marrow.
The years will pass until Piltover is razed to the ground and people, so far advanced and removed and evolved, excavate the remains of their clinging bones from the ringing halo of their lives’ work and piece them, bit by bit, back together.
Viktor’s left tibia screwed to Jayce’s right femur, 48 ribs on either side of their single heart, cracked shards of their skull glued into some unholy sculpture, into one single fucked-up nightmare creature.
He hopes they get their own museum exhibit. He hopes they get a plaque: Unknown Animal, now extinct.
