Like her father, Janey also took a large dose of radiation and became a ghoul. Repulsed and embarrassed by her daughter's condition, Barb hid her away in another vault, along with other things that could embarrass Vault-Tec and its executives. When the Vault is damaged, a number of those embarrassments woke up and got loose. That includes a synth Courser with two sets of memories.
