The days confined have blurred together, and the only thing still worth remembering were the days spent beside that energetic little furball who would, every now and then, nearly knock his shoulder out of place with a playful punch; the inside jokes they shared; the wild way they used to comfort each other in bed...
Every so often, Judy would visit him, but the scene felt so unreal, so ethereal, that he no longer even bothered to pay attention to what she was trying to say from the other side of the glass, through the phone. The only thing he vaguely managed to hear was:
“Nick, I’m going to get you out of there!”
