The leather of Riku's clothes flexed with the subtle cue of his irritation.
"You don't know what he did to you and you're petting him," Riku spat, low.
Sora didn't turn to look at him. He knew he'd only see the unbridled anger in Riku's gaze. Normally he would've become defensive, angry in turn, rising to argue his case. But he could sense he wasn't the source of Riku's anger, and beneath it all was a damning empathy. In a way, Sora was angry too.
Vanitas needed Sora, and they were so unforgiving with him.

He was thinking of how he wouldn’t really mind sitting in class at the moment. Not if it meant the occasional brush of a warm, tanned elbow against his, a quirk of lips followed by you have a pencil I can borrow? Riku had lost three pencils, two pens, and a cheap calculator by now, but he didn’t mind.
He didn’t mind lingering as long as he could, methodically placing everything into his bag one by one, just to have a reason to talk a little more. Or pretending to be distracted with his phone, acting as if he had a hundred notifications he could be responding to, as if he had the whole world at his beck and call, just to show he was someone to be wanted, someone to make you stop and stare and think, you’re special.
He’d tuck his hair behind his ear, or ‘forget’ his glasses every time he had that lecture, because he thought maybe he looked better without them, even if 30 minutes into the class a dull, pounding headache thumped at his temples and behind his eyes, thump-thump-thump, matching the melodious rhythm in his heart. And he swore it could be heard by the whole classroom, the sound sweeping into a symphony that said look at me.

Summary
A Story in Multiple Parts
Follow Cloud as his life becomes more and more complex, one mission after another thrown his way from the planet itself, without any real time to recover. Sometimes, he missed the simpler days of Meteorfall.
Part 1 - Cloud is tasked with a new mission. The planet sent him back in time and told him to save the boy. Now Cloud finds himself raising a tiny baby Sephiroth away from Hojo's evil clutches.
Part 2 - The planet has more plans for Cloud, and this time he has some odd allies. He finds himself back in time and in the company of one Zack Fair.
Part 3 - Cloud has succesfully become close to Sephiroth. Sometimes it feels a little TOO close.
There are multiple Sephiroth's in this story. The pairing is NOT with the child.
