Summary
What if Scully were the one who woke up with amnesia, in the centre of a murder investigation?
My interpretation of Demons (4x23) if the roles were reversed.
________
“Agent Mulder,” Skinner started, pressing his fingers to his temples as he studied the man in front of him. Mulder suddenly felt as though he were wearing the sleeplessness of his weekend like a cloak, gaudy and begging to be examined.
“I just got off the phone with the San Diego police department. They caught a case early yesterday morning, a murder, and…”
Pieces of information rose and burst like fireworks in Mulder’s field of vision, each one sending a fresh wave of nausea cascading through him.
Scully’s tight smile as she informed him she’d be out of town that weekend.
The slight straightening to her spine that always indicated she’d be visiting family.
A line in a personnel file, listing Bill Scully’s address as 6410 Ambrosia Drive, San Diego, California.
San Diego PD. Calling Skinner about a murder.

Summary
I can’t say with certainty where we’ll end up (together or separately).
But for now, these chapters are manifesting as little explorations of Mulder and Scully’s internality within each episode, usually accompanied by a little off-screen vignette, before or after.
Though I’m writing these because I’m compelled to do so, I hope that you enjoy them! That would be lagniappe.

Summary
“It’s true, Dana,” Mrs Mulder said, finally, when Dana remained silent. “You’re coming to live with us for a while. This way, your mother can focus on helping your little brother. And your father can beaver away at his work on the new base. It will be no trouble at all to us. We have plenty of space. You will have your own room, very private, with a lock on the door and everything. It’ll be safer for you. And good for Fox. He needs to be challenged.”
Dana had no disagreements with Mrs Mulder on that score, but she rather doubted the long-term effectiveness of the strategy being proposed. Again, she glanced around the room. “But, Mrs Mulder, your son hates me.”

What if when Charlie got rheumatic fever, the Scully family happened to live on the Vineyard? And also, it were 1943 -- the year a secret Navy base appeared on the Vineyard, and multiple test pilots disappeared?

Summary
What if Mulder returned to England after "The Erlenmeyer Flask"? And someone decided this was the perfect time to start stalking Scully?
OR
“They’re goddamn right you should’ve told me!” His voice thundered off eighteenth-century oak beams. “You could be dead, right now!”
She made a noise like he’d slapped her. Had he really just repeated their first fight? Yes. Of course. Because Fox Mulder was a sap and a fuckup and he’d left her all alone out there, and now- “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell like that. I’m just…”
“I didn’t think you’d care.” Her voice was the size of a lethal injection needle. It threaded neatly under his skin and into his veins and sent breathless death straight into his heart.
“What?” he rasped.
“You’d moved on. Or, away. You’d moved away. You have another life at Oxford, now, Mulder. Other goals. Other priorities. I should handle these things on my own. I need to handle these things on my own.”

Summary
A canon-compliant, internally consistent episode-by-episode exploration of Mulder and Scully’s interiority, usually accompanied by a little vignette, before or after. (Digging into the on-screen *and* the off-screen, one ep at a time.)
I've tagged it Explicit for future-purposes; explicity comes to those who wait, or something.
Currently taking a break between seasons, but I’ll be back soon.
Though I’m writing these because I feel compelled to do so, I hope that you enjoy them! That would be lagniappe.
