He looked at his brother sleeping peacefully. Sleeping as if he wasn’t in any danger, he let out soft snores under his breath, his body completely relaxed and limp. He was in a deep slumber. Too deep; that’s supposed to be so dangerous. But to Mario, it looked comforting. Not caring for your surroundings. Not having to worry about the dangers. Being free from those responsibilities.
Freedom... A wish... A desire Mario wanted most. What he longed for was a yearning. A craving that he could leave that stress behind him, completely get rid of it as if it had never existed to begin with.
He looked at his brother, smiled at him…and he let himself fall. He heard panic, but he ignored it. The voices were begging him to stay awake, to run from the abyss his consciousness was falling into. He didn’t want to. He wanted to embrace that tranquility. That relaxation. And that was where his mind was going.
Sort of a what-if scenario if Mario hadn't gotten to the Dreampoint in time during the dreambeats at Mount Pajamaja, along with more headcanons. Especially around Antasma and Luigi.
