Summary
“I thought Ilya was, like, the man here,” Hayden motioned. Something suspiciously sounding like Jackie’s voice in the back of his brain told him that wasn’t the right wording, but he was too tired and already too buzzed to care. Besides, this was Shane, he didn’t need to say the perfect thing. Shane knew what he meant.
Scott shifted. “They are both men, Hayden” he said very formally. Hayden suddenly felt like his dad was lecturing him.
Hayden sighed. “No, Shane, you know what I mean.”
Shane’s brow furrowed in concentration. “Like, because I bottom?” He said, slightly embarrassed.
Scott’s steady gaze on Hayden suddenly turned very sharp.
“No!” Hayden started. “Well, maybe? I don’t know how that works. I just mean, like, you’re real gay and Ilya likes women, right?”
OR 5 times Hayden realizes other people know his best friend better than him, and the 1 time Shane tells him himself.

Summary
”Shane Hollander, Montreal’s perfect captain,” Ilya mutters. His breath tickles Shane’s ear.
Shane turns his head, tips his chin up and lets Ilya kiss him right against the front door until his lips are buzzing with it.
He is what Ilya says he is — he’s boring and proper, polite. He sticks to his meal plan and eats brown rice and vegetables and steamed fish, and no processed sugar. He tries not to make his parents worry. He gives perfectly fine, safe interviews and ignores it when the press tries to get him to say anything that would be out of line, and he is professional and good at it.
No one needs to know that he lights up under Ilya’s touch like the New Year’s Eve sky, how easily he goes down to his knees for him, how his heartbeat kicks into overdrive the second Ilya leans into his space. It is only for Shane to know, and for Ilya, maybe, if he would like to.
Or: Shane Hollander and the pressure of being in the spotlight.

Summary
”Just a few months,” he heard himself say, haltingly.
Ilya’s eyes sparkled. ”Yes.”
”And you will behave, Rozanov.”
”I always behave, Hollander.” He shoved at Ilya’s shoulder at this. Ilya caught his wrist and held on. He was grinning. ”It’s going to be fine. No big deal, yes?”
No big deal. Right. ”Just to get Hayden to leave me alone,” Shane muttered. Ilya nodded but didn’t make a comment about Hayden this time, which Shane appreciated, actually. And then he said, ”Fine, you’ll win your stupid bet,” and twisted his wrist out of Ilya’s grip. ”Let’s try.”
