Summary
“Go away.” Kaveh slurs his words, despite there only being two. It’d be impressive if it weren’t enough to give even Alhaitham second hand embarrassment.
The patience he had at the start is wearing thin. “Stand up, you need to go home.” Alhaitham nudges him again, but Kaveh shoves him away.
“Could you fuck off?”
-
Where Alhaitham is forced to work with Kaveh on another research project, and with it, confront the mysteries sparked within himself by the pages of writing; or, more accurately, the face beyond them, across the room, asleep on his own two arms.

Summary
“Alright.” The realization left an unpleasant taste on his tongue, and he pulled back Lovely Assistaff with slow movements, wondering if his actions had tainted her with shame. “You’re here to… make art?”
or: a place on the Ground exists, where Jabber and Zanka are just two boys freed from any expectations

Bookmarker's Notes
Had so many favorite lines. My favorite is this
"the blue sky of his eyes promising a thunderstorm met the pink clouds of a windy sunset of Jabber’s own gaze. "
Love love loved reading this.
Felt the ff: the passage of time, unhurried, curious, exploring, gratitude and emotions from the writingThe kind of story you want to contemplate on for a while

Summary
Zanka's got a new weapon to try out. A trap that binds enemies. He hadn't meant to get into a situation where he had to use it on a raider, but bad luck is bad luck. Might as well make the most of it.
Unfortunately, he got cut on the way down, leaving him paralysed and in pain. And what is there to do when you're both unable to move but talk? Maybe he'll even get some useful advice from it. Maybe he’ll look at the glazed over, hungry eyes of the man beside him and see his own reflection staring back, mirroring him.
Gifted or mediocre, they all bleed the same.

Summary
“Hey, Jabber. You ever let someone else touch Mankira?”
“Why you askin’? Don’t tell me you’re trying to get your hands on Mankira. Nah. Ain’t nobody ‘cept my mama touched these rings.”
“..Did you want me to hold her?”
“I knew it! You were trying to touch her! You shoulda just said that in the first place!”
One absentminded question was all it took for the two to end up together, their treasures in the hands of the other. In the hands of their enemy.
And it didn't feel wrong.
