Summary
No matter what the ninja told him at the Tournament of the Sources, he didn’t believe their manipulation tactics. He was not a ninja; he never was and will never join their team. But suddenly, during the battle with Thunderfang, he is sent into a coma and wakes up unaware of everything that happened after the Merge, and somehow all his memories from before flood back. Now, he is unaware that his goodness is shattered, unaware of every horrible thing he did. The ninja have to decide what to do when it is unclear whether Jay is back to normal, or still this "Rogue" they've known. Can they outrun what Jay became? Will the ninja tell him the truth, or pretend that everything is normal? And if the truth slips out, will it drive them apart?
Or maybe, the ninja just have to learn to accept him for who he is.

Jay closes his eyes. He can feel the nausea threatening to return. "There's nothing you can do to help," he says. It comes out harsher than he'd intended.
Both surprising and also not surprising at all, this doesn't push Cole away. "Maybe there is something I can do. But I want to make sure you're okay with it."

He scowls as the two of them fret above where he sits against a tree. He looks pale, the blood seeping out of his cheeks. They don’t have a first aid kit on them, because this mission was supposed to be easy, which in hindsight is stupid no matter how simple the patrol is meant to be. They can’t stitch it, and no matter how hard they try, the bleeding stubbornly refuses to be staunched.
And of course Kai, who is bleeding out on the forest floor, is the one to suggest a solution.
“I can just, like, burn it shut,” he says. His cheeks burn red from embarrassment. “I don’t remember the word.”
“Cauterize,” Nya mumbles, absently. It’s a disgusting, awful idea, but it looks like it’s the only one they have at this point. She exchanges a look with a very unnerved Jay, then nods. “Yeah, I think that could work.”
