She felt like she was walking towards a wave that was too high, standing ankle deep on the shoreline as it barrelled towards her, ready to consume.
Kie felt dizzy, felt high, like she’d taken a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart and it made her knees feel a little weak.
It was good.
She wanted to chase that feeling. So she parted her lips and walked into the wave.
“Hey Jay?”
The boy looked up from where he was brushing grains of sand from his thighs and he met her gaze with the same expectant heat she knew was in her own. It simmered between them, bubbled and popped and god.

Summary
She slips her hand into his, before leaning her head back against the hard seat as well. She positions their joined hands on her thigh, lacing their fingers together, and he immediately stills.
His pulse jumps as his eyes zero in on their linked hands. It’s far from the first time they’ve held hands, and considering they just kissed for the first time like a day ago, it’s not even the most romantic thing they’ve done recently.
But the way she simply sat down next to him and held his hand, pulling it into her lap like it’s something they do every day, sends his mind spinning.
And it’s not that he doesn’t want to hold her hand, because he absolutely does. He craves her attention more than he probably should, and he never wants to lose the warm feeling in his chest, but he just… doesn’t know if he deserves it.

JJ laughed at that, seeming completely unaffected. It ticked her off, she wanted to see him with a bruised ego, not an elevated one. “So what is it then?”
“What is what?” she asked annoyed as she sipped her drink.
“What did I do to make you hate me so much? Ya know, I can't fix it if I don't know what I did wrong.”
She rolled her eyes, “Maybe I just can't stand your personality.”
“I doubt that, I got a great personality,” he winked at her and it made her even angrier, feeling her hands ball into fists out of reflex.

He lets out a small groan and she turns to see him slowly sitting up and rubbing at his eyes trying to rid them of sleep.
She turns to him and offers a small smile, spatula in hand. ‘Morning.’
JJ blinks at her a couple times, his hand comes up to run through his already tousled hair, his eyes focus onto her and Kie can’t quite figure out what makes his eyes slightly widen and his mouth fall when they do.
‘Holy shit,’ he breathes out.
Her first thought is that he sounds shocked, the next is crap, did he not remember last night? He hadn’t seemed drunk, but she can’t be sure. Maybe she’s just created an insanely awkward situation where he hasn’t seen her in two years and all of a sudden he wakes up and she’s in his kitchen making breakfast.
‘You really are pregnant,’ he continues.
