“I miss you,” she whispered. “I wish you were here. You mattered, Jax, even if you couldn’t see it. I wish I’d told you that more. I wish I could have saved you.”
She pressed a hand to the pillow fort, tears slipping down her cheeks. “But I’m going to keep going. For you. For all of us,” Pomni smiled, bittersweet and broken, but thankful to be alive.
The Circus was still standing, but more importantly, she was still standing. And somewhere, in the static, she hoped Jax could hear her.
Or: a slightly deeper dive into Jax's abstraction, Pomni finally figuring out why Jax acts the way he does, and how she wishes Jax would see the Digital Circus slowly rebuild itself.

After he hesitates about participating in a group activity, Zooble decides to help out in their own special way, leading to discussions of the past and a certain blue AI.

"You're not dead," Pomni said with a frown. "Not yet, at least. You're just — indisposed."
At that, Jax gave her a long look as his mouth narrowed out into a little line. Then he sighed quietly. It wasn't the way he used to sigh, with dramatic posturing that begged the attention from anyone even remotely listening. It was small. Tired. Reflexive. Then he sat down with his knees to his chest, glaring into the dark water. The only light here, a single streetlamp, glowed weakly.
"Denial is an ugly color on you. Clashes with your stupid hat."
"Jax — "
"I'm gone," he snapped. His voice echoed in the abyss. "Don't you get it? No one comes back from Abstraction. You're not saving me, you're not helping me grow. All you're doing is keeping my body from rotting." Jax's hands worked their way up to his head, squeezing as he growled, "You're talking to a ghost."
or, a post-canon fix-it fic, featuring the De-Abstraction of Jax. It's messy and it takes time, but it's never too late to try.
