As the pressure built, Derek heard a voice. “Do you know what you have done, Little Lord?” The voice said. It was deceptively soft, almost gentle. It sent waves of pain crashing through him.
“Put an end to you?” Derek said, a final triumphant grin stretched across his face.
“I already told you, Little Lord. Why would I put the instructions to my demise within my own domain?” The voice cooed. Derek froze, and the grin slipped off of his face.
“What?” He asked, his voice small. He won, didn't he? The King had panicked when Derek recited the spell, hadn't It?
“You were never bait for Avery. He was bait for you. The mind is not so easily turned unusable for my purposes. I wanted you to find that book. I wanted your curiosity and selflessness to lead you to ME, over, and over, and over again. And then, I wanted you to let me in.”

When he first gets the mission, Phil doesn't think anything of it. It's not the first time he's been sent to gather intel from a target. It's not even the first time he's done so at a gala that dripped with enough expense to feed the entire city for a week. Most of the time he's some servant, moving swiftly between milling crowds, tray of champagne balanced in one hand. Occasionally, when it better suits the target, they make him some rich heir, have him shift about between groups until he finds his mark. Not his favorite, what with the way he's forced to navigate the minefield of socializing, but it's doable.
He's never done it in a dress before, though. First time for everything.

It was a rather good day, mostly because Mob and his Shisho were gonna hit up their usual ramen spot after today's job, and really, any day spent with his Shisho was a good day in Mob’s eyes.
However, on this particular day, Mob had an irritating itch that had formed since he first started today's job, and Mob just couldn’t seem to scratch it enough. He’s not sure how it first formed, but it started the moment the client seemed just a bit too friendly towards his shisho.
