Wemmbu shrugs in reply, closes his eyes, ignores the blinding white behind his eyelids begging to be seen. "You don' have to explain, I understand dude."
He doesnt understand. He's not an angel, he wouldn't know what goes on up there in heaven or wherever Egg's from.
That's okay, though. Maybe it's just not his to understand. His words seem like they soothed Egg when he said them, so he'll pretend to know. Especially if thats what Egg needs.

“Yo, guys!” Wemmbu and Flame temporarily pause their insults at the sheer loudness of the voice. Parrot slumps in relief at the lull in arguing, but the glint in the voidlings eyes makes him want to take it back. “You guys think help will get here faster if we say we have a medical emergency?”
“No, we’re not doing that,” Parrot shuts that down before it even starts.
Wemmbu leans forward in interest. “Can we veto Parrot’s decision? I personally think Spoke’s idea is funny.”
“And a crime, probably.” Flame inputs.
“A funny crime,” Wemmbu emphasizes.
“With funny consequences, like jail.”
“Depends on your mindset. I honestly think Spoke has the mindset.”
Parrot buries his head in his hands again. His voice is muffled when he screams, “Someone please get me out of here.”
His cries go unheard, or rather, they’re ignored by all three of them.

He slowly lifted the window and was halfway through when suddenly, the lights in his room flooded on, and Wemmbu froze like a deer caught in the headlights. At once, he is keenly aware of how much he looked like a burglar, with one of his legs swung over the window, his other leg propped out on the window sill, and his head half peeking out from behind the curtain.
As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw his roommate and best friend standing at the door with a baseball bat, one hand poised over the light switch. Egg was staring at him with a tired expression, his head wings fluttering slightly, and Wemmbu stared back.
“Oh, hey Egg.”
“Yo."

Egg finds out Wemmbu is a vigilante when he catches Wemmbu sneaking back into the apartment after a patrol. They have a silly conversation.

Wemmbu walks with stumbling steps, searching for the first ray of sunlight that will lead him out of this cave and into the surface. He dreads the moment he reaches it anyway; all these hours underground have made his eyes so used to the dark that the brightness of the morning sun could very well blind him completely.
The same ritual follows every fight. No matter the outcome, no matter the amount of casualties or injuries in his own body, every fight ends the same way.
