Summary
January 1997. The morning sun of the first day of the year brings no regret, only the need to stay lost in the arms of the only man she was never supposed to have. Waking up in the hotel room after their very first night spent together, the unnamed woman realizes to her absolute delight that the feelings she holds for Kishibe—her father’s closest friend—are mutual. Slowly, she realizes she is no longer the same numb person she was the day before. Together, the lovers bond over shared feelings of isolation, the lack of direction, and how they are not prepared to come back to their everyday lives, seeking further escapism in their forbidden rendezvous. He spirals into obsession, chasing what he can not have while pushing away what he has. Both of them realize that the real danger is much worse than a simple devil. A very powerful one threatens to rip the reality apart. Kobeni makes her choice: she will not die as a coward, and she will not accept the life she does not deserve. And their growing feelings start to get in the way.

December 1996. Summary
"Resurrection" is a multi-chapter series set in a slightly canon-divergent alternate universe of the Public Safety Arc. It will include my own interpretations and background stories for the characters. The story begins a few months after the hotel incident. The POVs change between Aki and Kobeni.
Everyone was aged up for my own comfort, especially the canonically underage characters, so most of the main cast is in their twenties. This is a shipping piece for Aki Hayakawa and Kobeni Higashiyama.
There will be no character bashing or salt, villains included.

“Okay, Sherlock. What’s your guess?” Leon crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair.
Sherry smiled, something soft in her expression.
“It’s Grace, isn’t it?”
His ears turned red immediately.
Fuck… am I that predictable?
“It is! I knew it! Well, I’m happy for you. I hope you both—”
“Too soon, oracle. She has no idea.”
“I’m pretty sure she does, Leon.”
He sighed, covering his face with his hands—not out of shame, but pure exhaustion, caught between discomfort and the urge to finally admit it.
“Well… good for her. Like I said, I’m old. Old enough to be her father. She deserves someone better than me. Someone more… available.”
Sherry pulled a chair and sat beside him.
“Let me tell you something, Kennedy.”
“Mm.”
“Twenty-eight years living in this mess. My dear friend… it’s time. We could both use a fresh start. Don’t you think?”
He stared at his hands in silence.

My perception of the game, the characters, and how they gradually grow attached to each other, developing all that mutual longing and emotional turmoil. I don't know what else to write here, I'm just having fun.
The air in the lobby was thick with the stale smell of cheap coffee, paper dust, and that particular brand of soul-crushing office ennui. Leon stepped outside. A fine, misty rain was falling. He loaded the boxes onto the back seat of the Mustang, slid behind the wheel, and then just sat there for a moment, staring at the grey walls of the building. Hovering before his eyes were those green eyes behind glasses and that frightened face. "Grace Ashcroft," he repeated to himself. Just a name. Just a random encounter. He had a lot of work waiting for him. He started the engine and pulled out of the lot, carrying away with him not only boxes of files documenting death, but also a vague, inexplicable feeling that today, he had seen something important. Something that, maybe, was connected to this whole case. Or maybe it was just the fatigue playing tricks on him, making him look for connections where there were none.
