“”Vox! This young lady is Serika, the newest addition to the overlords. She just told me about the most fascinating plan she’s come up with, rather impressive really!” Wait what. Was the Radio Demon just going to throw her completely under the bus for his own rival? She felt a drop of sweat trail down her back as she tried to not let her fear show. Vox looked at Alastor while taking a sip from his drink.
“Plan to what?” Alastor’s cheeriness didn’t falter for a second, and she didn’t know if that was a really good thing or a really bad one.
“To kill you!””
Being a new overlord, Serika wants to make an impression and goes to the most dangerous of the bunch in a try to bond over a common enemy. Unfortunately for her, she’s not that caught up on inter-work relationships. Even more unfortunate is that Alastor finds it really funny to scare the shit out of newcomers.

”You’d call everything off right now, just for this?”
Just for this, he says. As though it’s trivial. As though it isn’t everything that Vox has dreamt of every night for the past several decades. As though the rejection doesn’t sting just as sharply every time he wakes up and reaches to the other side of a cold bed, hands searching for a lover that will never be there, and hears callous laughter echoing in the back of his skull.
Vox sucks in a shaky breath, closing his eyes. He tilts his face downward, unable to look at Alastor when he admits it. He almost can’t bring himself to, sure that Alastor is already certain of the answer.
”Yes,” he whispers.
”You can’t be serious,” Alastor says quietly.
