It started because of an ironic comment from Griffon. It was banter; it was teasing, but then because of Nero's determination, it was real. V was curious about Nero's "skills" outside the battlefield. He wouldn't say so directly — he enjoyed playing this little game too much — but he hoped to rile Nero up enough to make him act.
