Rook raised an eyebrow at him. “I wouldn’t have expected you to be interested in my training.”
Solas looked surprised, “You tread a path whose shadows you embrace, because it leads to a destination that you choose. I, too, have found that sometimes in the quiet stillness of the night, such darkness reveals truths that daylight hides.” A wolfish grin crossed his face as he added, “And perhaps it is not only the shadows that hold my interest.”
She said quickly in an attempt to fill the silence, “Watching me is not all that interesting.”
“Would it disappoint you to learn that I found it to be a pleasurable pastime?” Solas asked lightly.
Rook’s stomach swooped as she responded in a kind of test flirt just to see how far he would take this. “I had no idea that you found watching me . . . pleasurable.”
Solas approached her. He captured her in his gaze, his eyes bright with interest. “Perhaps I enjoy discovering what prowls in the night. I find curiosity often leads to unexpected delights.” Solas started to leave, but before he disappeared he said, “The blanket was most welcome.”
He knew! Of course, he knew.
Rook had no idea that Solas could be so . . . provocative.
